November 21, 2017 — Earlier this week, Indiana-based Kelley Automotive Group announced plans to purchase Tomkinson BMW. The acquisition will expand Kelley’s employee base to more than 600, and add BMW to its selection of brands which include GMC, Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, Ford, and Volvo.
Other than more staff, the addition of another brand, and a name change from Tomkinson BMW to BMW of Fort Wayne, Tom Kelley, President of Kelley Automotive Group, says little will change for the dealership.
Both companies are based in Indiana; Kelley Automotive Group was founded 1952; Tomkinson BMW was founded in 1979. According to Tomkinson BMW’s Rick Tomkinson, it was a matter of the right time and the right partner. — Alison Miley
