July 13, 2015 — One of the questions I’ve been asked the most the last few months is what is Chip Perry doing? Now we have an answer — and it’s not automotive-related.
Today, RentPath LLC announced it has named Perry President and CEO. The firm is the parent company to sites Apartment Guide, Rent.com, Rentals.com and Lovely. Perry has been serving as a non-executive board member for RentPath since February.
From 1997 to 2013, Perry, CEO of AutoTrader.com, was one of the driving forces in automotive retail as the industry moved into the Internet era. He built the classified listings site into a $1.5 billion company over the course of 16 years until the two parted ways in the spring of 2013.
He joins former AutoTrader colleague Clark Wood who was named RentPath’s chief marketing officer in May of this year.
Perry likely will remain on the board at Auto Trader PLC, which owns AutoTrader.CO in the U.K. (No affiliation with Autotrader.com in the U.S.).
