Better Car People was founded in 2010 with four automotive professionals; it has since grown to over 70 employees and is continually developing new and innovative products for the automotive space.

Matthew has been an innovator in the auto industry for 25 years.  He served as the head of eCommerce for Hendrick Automotive Group from September 1999 to April 2008.  The Internet Revolution affected all profit centers in the group. During his time there, he piloted a $3 billion company through a significant industry change, culminating in 27,000 retail sales from email inquiries in 2007 which represented 25% of total group sales.  This was accomplished through discovering and quickly communicating successful best practices and new technologies to 60+ general managers, internet managers and C level executives at the corporate office.  Further, Matthew vetted, negotiated, and implemented new technology rollouts with multiple vendors including products from Cobalt, Reynolds & Reynolds, IzmoCars, eBizAutos, Blackbook Online, Carfax, Dealix, AutoUSA, and many others.  Matthew was responsible for the development of the corporate website and regional portals, specifically HendrickCars.com which was a pre-owned vehicle portal that extends to each dealer’s pre-owned section of their website.  Hendrick saw a  35% rise in 2007 in pre-owned online sales with a per vehicle gross average within $10 of retail.

Matthew’s other interests include Board Member of the Union County Community Shelter, Board Member of the Union Academy Foundation, and Board of Directors of the Union County Chamber of Commerce.  Matthew is always looking for new and innovative ideas to help grow his business and the local community.  Matthew lives with his wife, Stephanie, in his hometown of Monroe, NC. They have eight children and four grandchildren.
